Becca's Love Story August 4th, 2010

My mom worked at a school this past June and July, and there were these three brothers who always came to school hungry and with no school supplies. They were also deemed “trouble children” because they often got in fights with other kids and just misbehaved in general, and so they were not usually the kids other people sought to help.

After hearing that the boys nearly fist fought over who would get to eat the last half of a piece of pie, my heart broke. That’s one way to make an 18 year old cry.

On the last day of summer school, I sent my mom to work with enough food to feed all the boys breakfast and lunch. Then I grabbed our school district’s supply lists for this upcoming school year, bought each boy a new back pack, and filled them with everything on those lists.

I’m so glad those boys now have the chance to start the school year off like a “normal” kid, because I know they’ve never had that opportunity before.
