Stephanie's Love Story September 3rd, 2010
For years my husband and I thought that we “may” adopt a baby. It’s always been in our hearts & then I heard Steven Curtis Chapman speak at at Women of Faith conference about adoption. At that time, I was pregnant with our now 5 year old daughter. Even though I was pregnant I still felt the tugging of adoption. I turned 40 last year and together my husband & I decided it was the right time to finally adopt. Since about March, we’ve been following God’s calling to adopt and we’ve been specifically working to adopt from Rwanda. Last week, the doors to adoption in Rwanda were temporarily closed so that they can put into place better safeguards for the orphans there. When we heard this news, our hearts were a little torn. How could this door be closing when it seemed like that was the direction God was leading. Needless to say, we’ve been in tears trying to determine our next steps and very prayerful asking for further guidance from God. What we’ve learned in the process . . . is alot! But the most important fact is that there are more than 147 million orphans all over the world that are just waiting for a loving home to take them in! A true love revolution needs to happen for these kids! We still haven’t determined our next steps, but this week doors seem to be opening for us to adopt from Ethiopia. I think the message we “thought” we were hearing from God was “adopt from Rwanda”, but maybe His real message to us was just “adopt!” So, we are moving ahead! We can’t wait to follow God’s lead to whatever country He chooses for us and to go through this incredible journey with Him! It’s a Love Revolution!!!!
